These sores may appear lacy and white surrounded by red swollen tissue patches with open sores. They are often found inside the cheeks and on the gums or tongue. They may cause a burning sensation or dry mouth. The cause of this condition is unknown but it is possible to offer treatment. Available Treatments for Oral Lichen Planus: Triamcinolone Acetonide oral rinse (0.1% suspension no flavor) (doesn’t give the sticky feeling of paste) One advantage of this delivery form is that many people dislike the sticky feeling of the commercially available paste and would prefer a suspension.
